STATEMENT

The paintings I create are rooted in a fascination with the peculiar nature of instamatic snapshot photography. My goal is to create painted images that have the qualities of a photograph yet retain some of the subjectivity of a painting. The goal is not photo-real paintings but the impression of a photograph. I want to present the viewer with the feeling of something that seems to dwell between what we may think of as the objectivity of a snapshot and something else, something more like a faint memory, a fleeting glance or dream.
